The High Meadows Environmental Institute at Princeton University, in collaboration with UCLA and UCSB is seeking a Postdoctoral fellow or more senior researcher with a passion for studying the natural world, motivated to take on the challenge of improving our understanding of linkages between plant traits and ecosystem processes under changing environmental conditions. The position is available under the supervision of Dr. Matteo Detto and funded by an NSF grant (Award 2017804) for a duration of two years.

This project aims to provide a mechanistic understanding of the role of traits, including hydraulic traits, in determining fluxes for several forested NEON and FluxNet sites. The post-doc will join a highly collaborative research project under the supervision of Dr. Matteo Detto and be responsible for working with and developing the state-of-the-science Land Model in collaboration with the Geophysical Fluids Dynamics Lab. Additional available resources include rich trait and flux datasets collected by the project field team at NEON sites across the continental US.

Candidates must have received a Ph.D. in ecology, earth sciences, applied math, or the physical, biological, or chemical sciences. Rigorous training in physiological ecology is preferred along with very strong dynamical, modeling, and quantitative skills. Postdoctoral appointments are initially for one year with the renewal for subsequent years based on satisfactory performance and continued funding. A competitive salary is offered commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Applicants are asked to submit a cover letter, vitae, a publication list, a statement of research experience and interests, and names of at least 3 references. Applicants should apply online to https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/22782 . Review of applications will begin as soon as they are received and continue until the position is filled. This position is subject to the University’s background check policy.
