We invite applications for a 36-month postdoctoral position at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), São José dos Campos, Brazil, funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). The selected candidate will conduct atmospheric simulations to quantify the impact of biomass burning emissions from the Amazon on air quality in the São Paulo Metropolitan Area, focusing on critical events such as the 2019 Amazon fire crisis. The simulations will use emission estimates from the South American Biomass Burning Inventory (SAMBBI) and will include control and sensitivity experiments to isolate the contribution of Amazon fires to pollutant concentrations, supporting public policies aimed at mitigating the impacts of biomass burning on public health. The position is full-time with exclusive dedication, with an expected start date of August 2026.
