Berkeley Lab’s Earth and Environmental Sciences Area (EESA) has an exciting opening for an Earth Research Scientist to join the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP).
This role will build new data processing and synthesis capabilities for the AmeriFlux Network. The AmeriFlux network is a coordinated set of more than 150 sites across the Americas measuring fluxes of CO2, water, energy in terrestrial ecosystems. AMP works with AmeriFlux scientists to ensure the quality and availability of ecosystem measurements necessary to understand terrestrial ecosystems and their relationship to the Earth system. Data processing and analytics for this data are active research topics, with a lively community of interdisciplinary scientists and overarching impact ranging from fundamental biological processes to global scale climate change. The project will involve development of data processing and analysis methods for carbon flux data, and their validation on data sets collected at several types of ecosystems under a variety of climatic conditions.
As part of our Climate Sciences Department, this position will join a dynamic interdisciplinary team based at LBNL and will work closely with carbon flux researchers at LBNL, UC Berkeley, and across the Americas. LBNL is a renowned center of scientific expertise in many facets of climate-related fundamental and applied science.
We seek talented individuals with training in Biometeorology, Ecosystem Ecology, and Terrestrial/Earth system modeling, and a strong aptitude for and interest in Computational Science.
