Based at NASA GSFC in Greenbelt MD (potentially remote), a one-year, full-time position is available to contribute to an Observing System Simulation Experiment (OSSE) designed to understand the performance of NASA’s next hyperspectral mission (SBG) for land surface modeling. The candidate will carry out simulations using a workflow that simulates surface to top-of-atmosphere to at-sensor radiances using the LPJ land surface model coupled to MODTRAN and an SBG instrument model. The work is based on advancing the following publication https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1029/2022JG006935 Qualifications include motivation, excellent communication and writing skills, experience in programming (i.e., R, Python, bash, high-performance computing, & working with code-management repositories), and ability to work with dynamic team as well as independently.
