All 2020 webinars

November 16 2020, 1:30 PM Pacific Time: DOI authorship form and data policy (Deb Agarwal and You-Wei Cheah)

In this seminar, we will discuss current approaches to how data for AmeriFlux sites are assigned DOIs, and the tools available to maintain DOIs. In addition, we will also discuss improvements/changes towards the data usage policy and assigning DOIs for both current and future data products.

October 19 2020, 9AM Pacific Time: Requirements for processing a site using ONEFlux (AMP Team)

In this webinar we’ll present key requirements for processing AmeriFlux site data with the ONEFlux pipeline, generating a set of products compatible with FLUXNET2015. We will discuss the process starting from AmeriFlux data (BASE) and metadata (BADM) available for a site, generating a configuration for running ONEFlux, and the execution of the pipeline, finally generating the product with gap-filled micromet and flux variables, partitioned CO2 fluxes, estimates of energy-balance-closure coefficients, and estimates of uncertainties. We’ll also cover aspects such as: required and suggested variables for the processing, the QA/QC process for BASE, upcoming metadata collection on how to select and aggregate variables representative of tower footprint for the processing, future regional and global flux products.

September 25 2020, 11AM Pacific Time: Measurement Best Practices (AMP Tech Team)

Our second webinar is a panel discussion hosted by the AmeriFlux Tech Team and aimed at sharing best practices around collecting flux observations. We have invited an experienced group of site staff to share thoughts on three topics that we find important, relevant, and timely. The panel members include: Russ Scott (USDA), Kim Novick (Indiana University), Gil Bohrer (The Ohio State University), Colin Edgar (University of Alaska, Fairbanks), Daphne Szutu (University California, Berkeley), Inke Forbrich (Marine Biological Laboratory).
The discussion on best practices will cover the following topics:
  • How to ensure data quality and minimize data gaps (lead panelist: Russ Scott)
  • Field Safety and Field work during the COVID-19 era (lead panelist: Kim Novick)
  • Dataset supporting Flux observations (lead panelist: Gil Bohrer

August 17 2020, 10AM Pacific Time: On-boarding process (Margaret S. Torn)

Our first seminar is aimed at new flux tower teams – those who joined the network in the last 1-2 years or are thinking about joining! Learn about the resources and advantages of being a member of the AmeriFlux network, and meet the team members who are available for tech and data support. Ask your burning questions and leave with the knowledge of what it means to be an AmeriFlux member site!
